Social Auxiliary Work
The purpose of the qualification is to equip qualifying learners with the following:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the South African context within which social services function and are delivered.
- Understanding of social development in terms of the needs, policies and the role of the social auxiliary worker.
- Basic knowledge of human behaviour, relationship systems and social issues and the ability to address social needs using appropriate social auxiliary work methods and techniques.
- The skills to work as a team member and as a provider of support services to the social work team.
- The successful completion of the qualification will enable the learner to:
- Register with the SA Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Auxiliary Worker in terms of section 18 of the Social Service Professions Act, 1978 (Act 110 of 1978).
Continue learning and gain access, for example to the Bachelor of Social Work (NQF Level 7) qualification.

Ancillary Health care
Purpose:
- Learners who complete this qualification will possess the competence required to perform community health functions under the supervision of a professional health worker.
- They will have the fundamental skills required for employment by a range of health, social and other sector employers.
- They will be in possession of a recognised qualification that will provide a platform for further education and training in a career pathway towards becoming professional health workers.
- Qualified learners in this field will provide a service that will assist communities to better manage their own health and wellness. They will have the skills to provide support services within a multidisciplinary health care team.
Recipients of this qualification will be able to:
- Communicate in a variety of ways.
- Use mathematics in real life situations.

Community Health Work
- Qualified learners in this field will provide a service that will assist communities to better manage their own health and wellness.
- They will have the skills to work as team members and as providers of support services within a multidisciplinary health care team.
- In addition, recipients will be able perform some of the following according to their choice of electives:
- Facilitate and administrate community health activities/centre via supervision of a team of health care workers.
- Provide community health care.

Early Childhood Development DIploma
The purpose of the qualification is to:
- Provide access to a recognised educator qualification at Level 6 for ECD educators who have a Level 4 or Level 5 certificate in ECD, providing a bridge between on-formal and formal learning programmes.
- To enable educators/ learners to plan and implement a learning programme which is based on their knowledge of child development from birth to nine years and hitch helps children in a specific phase work towards achieving the learning outcomes of the national school curriculum (where appropriate).
- To improve community-based ECD services for young children by raising the level of ECD teaching competence and/or by providing opportunities for training in support and leadership roles.
This qualification provides a substantial qualification for:
Potential learners/educators who have acquired an FETC (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification at Level 4 (120 credits) and who wish to make ECD their full-time career (entry point);
Learners/educators who have a Level 4 qualification in ECD to further their career and professional development in ECD by providing access to a Level 6 qualification;
Learners/educators who have a Higher Certificate in ECD to further their career and professional development in ECD by providing access to a Level 6 qualification.
